Gospel Music Week in Nashville

Christian artist Tammy Trent (www.tammytrent.com) was on her knees posing with Wynonna and friends. Tammy interviewed Wynonna during Gospel Music Week in Nashville recently. She is one of the funniest people I know!

Elvis: Nashville Celebrates

The New Palmetto State Quartet, including Larry Strickland, backed Wynonna during "How Great Thou Art" and brought the sold out crowd at The Ryman Auditorium to their feet. Former members of The Stamps, also including Larry Strickland, sang with Wynonna during her rockin' performance of "Burnin' Love".

Fun In The Sun
01.28.2008
We headed to Key Largo, FL this weekend for a private show at a beautiful resort. It was the first time we had seen the band and crew in more than a month and the first time they played non-Christmas music in more than four months. WOW! It was like a big family reunion. I miss them already. Now it's back to the studio for Wynonna where she continues to work on the new album.

We'll use this blog to keep everyone updated as often as we can. Of course, Wynonna herself will also be on here reading your comments and posting some news of her own. So keep checking back!

Blessings,

I REALLY wanted this golf cart I saw driving around the resort! Can we take up a collection?

The Price WAS Right

Isn't he the cutest thing!?

Late Night Carolers!
12.08.2007

Twas not too long after the show
When all through the rig
Only Scarlett was stirring...her "I have to pee" jig
My dresses were hung in the closet with care
It was nearly time to brush the curls from my hair.
When on the bus door there came a loud knock
I thought it a crazy fan when I looked at the clock.
I ran from my room to see what could be wrong
And heard instead a very beautiful song.
It was "Wy's Guys" coming to sing to me so sweet
I took their picture quick before throwing them back on the street!

7 down and 11 to go!
12.02.2007

So far the highlights for me have been meeting the families before the show who have written their favorite holiday memory and the people who win the text contest that I meet after the show. Tonight in Panama City I met 2 women who are in the military. One of them (she’s 20) said she’d been listening to my music since she was a little girl. That made my day!

I so appreciate the parents bringing their children to the shows. Seeing their sweet little faces in the audience makes the show so fun for me.

I am so enjoying Don Potter being back out on the road with me (Don started on the road with me and mom back in 1984 and has been co-producing my records for over 20 years). Each night I wait to hear what he will sing about while I’m off stage. He makes the song up on the spot (something I have always been interested in but have yet to take the chance) so it is different in each city.

The harmonies from Suzy and Molly are stunning. Suzy was on my very first solo tour in 1992 so some of you may recognize her.

My favorite part of the show is Beautiful Star of Bethlehem and It’s The Messiah. It’s such a sweet segment and it takes me back to the very beginning of The Judds in 1984.

I appreciate so much that people are reaching out to me during the shows. I am feeling very loved out here by the fans. Being away from home during this time of year is bittersweet for me. I love the music and being with the fans and I’m homesick too. The fact that people come to the shows and support me is a real gift.

Tomorrow is a day off and I plan to take the band and singers out to dinner to celebrate all of our hard work. I’m always telling all of you to take time for what’s important. I’m trying to do the same for myself.

I’m enjoying your messages. Keep writing!

I Love A Parade!

After weeks of practicing my parade wave in the mirror, I finally got to use it on Thanksgiving Day. HA!

It's Christmas In Nashville
11.15.2007

It's officially Christmas, at least in one part of Nashville! Wynonna has been a busy little elf working hard to bring the fans an amazing holiday experience and WOW...that's the only word I can think of right now.

Here are some fun tidbits from rehearsal week:
1. Our precious puppy Scarlett (of Ladies Home Journal fame) decided yellow snow on the stage was much better than white! oops
2. Wynonna's impromptu tap dance during the I'll Be Home For Christmas interlude. We're trying to convince her to keep it in the show!
3. Don Potter starting the wrong song twice because he couldn't see the set list in the dark (we've now given him a light!). He had Wynonna laughing so hard...in a loving way of course.
4. The kids playing their pretend jingle bells and dancing to their favorite Christmas song making Wynonna lose her place several times.
5. Scarlett, yet again stealing the spotlight, at center stage rolling around scratching her back during a very emotional song making everyone inappropriately laugh hysterically.
6. Getting to do it all over again tomorrow!

Next week we'll have some great stuff to report about the taping of the skating special (Wynonna was excited to read on the webboard that so many fans are making the trip to Chicago!), the parade and our Thanksgiving festivities. Until then we wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Tami

P.S. The picture is the actual Christmas set!!

'Tis ALMOST The Season
11.08.2007

I can’t believe the Christmas Tour is almost here! Next week we start rehearsals so the last couple of weeks have been spent working on the set design, music and wardrobe. It will be great to finally see it all come together.

This is my favorite time of the year so I’ve also tried to get out on my farm with the animals as much as possible and enjoy God’s blessings. I hope you are taking the time to do the same wherever you are. “Life is a journey, not a destination.” I’m ready for the next season and even more excited to share the journey with you.

Until next week,

Wynonna
